We are planning our winter vacation to California this year. Where should we stay?
We will be renting a car so transportation is not a problem. We plan on Sea World one day and of course all the Hollywood sites and the beach!
What town should we stay in? Any advice on hotels?
What type of weather can we expect around February 20 – 26th. Even it is chilly we don’t mind we are from Wisconsin so it is bound to be warmer in Ca then it is here!

come to huntington beach. we have a hilton AND a Hyatt
and a beach.
oh yes, and san diego is just an hour drive from HB. LA is a 45 minute drive (albeit there is no traffic jam). weather wise you could expect about 65-70+, and little to no rain, unless you are very very unlucky.

Orange county is nice and safe, all the cities from Irvine to south, around lake forest are beautiful cities. checkout OCparks
Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Hollywood Heights (formerly Holiday Inn Walk of Fame), all near Hollywood and Highland. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios.
Average high temp is 70F, low is 51. But those are averages. And we can get rain that time of year. But if you’re from Wisconsin, you’ll have NO trouble dealing with temperatures that are ABOVE zero. When we visit Disneyland at that time, we like to play a little game called "Find the Canadian". It also works on people from Utah, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Here’s how it goes: If it’s about 60 degrees, you can easily spot the locals. They are the ones with the down jackets on. The Canadians, however, are running around in shorts that haven’t seen the light of day since the 80’s. LOL.
