Vacation ideas California???
I live in California, but am coming up with nothing in the way of vacation ideas for this spring. I have 10 year old twin boys, and we want to drive to our location. We have been kicking around driving to Tombstone, Az. the boys really want to go there (they think there will be ghosts haha) Anyhow, apart from there, I am coming up blank. I don’t want to go to any amuzement parks at all. Any ideas? What about the Winchester Mystery house?

I live in San Jose where the Winchester mystery house resides, and the tour is second to none. Sarah Winchesters home has a museum attached of the gunmakers famous history that will enthrall even the most placid peace activist, in addition to the awe inspiring tour of the mansion itself which has staircases bulit into the ceiling, doors opening into absloutely nothing and many very odd thing, including the room she was in when the infamous 1906 earthquake hit the region.Other spectacular things in the area are Paramounts great America amusement park; Its a 30 minute drive from the Pacific ocean (in Santa Cruz),which has "the mystery spot" where balls roll uphill (its true), and of course we have the 49ers training facility which (if you call before hand) will give you any amount of free ticket to attend their Spring training sessions, plus the world reknown San Jose Sharks…..what aspiring young lad could resist an awesome NHL game? Good Luck

If you like nature/camping, there are:
– yosemite
– sequoia
– bigbear
– lake arrowhead
– joshua tree
if you want to go out of state:
– arizona has the big medeor crater site, on the way to grand canyon… not too much to do, but interesting to see, quite a sight.
– lake mead is very pretty (vegas, arizona border i think)
– further out you can go to yellowstone
– or go up north to oregon, washington, maybe even canada

For a more interesting prteontaeisn for the flank steak, try spreading more pesto over a steak that has rested after being grilled. then, roll the steak lenghtwise like a sushi roll, or pinwheel, and slice an inch or so thick.
I have heard the mystery house is cool. You could also try Yosemite, or San Francisco (go to Alcatraz while you still can before they close it), or San Diego (visit the zoo), or even Colorado has a awesome Durango-Silverton narrow guage railroad that literally rides on a track 12 inches wide over cliffs and streams. Its really relaxing and beautiful (the kids will love the train). My mom and I did that and on the way to Colorado, we stopped by the Grand Canyon.
Good Luck and have fun!
