Is it a good place to raise a family? What do you like/ not like about the area?

i currently work for a company based out of michigan, but the center im at is in northern california.
recently got a job offer elsewhere and accepted. unfortunately im not giving them a formal "2 week" notice.
i was reviewing their company handbook, and it states if the employee does not give a proper 2 week notice, your vacation pay is automaticly forfeited…i have 70 hours unused….
my question is, is there an exception to this policy since im in the state of California?

im moving to Humboldt this fall and am going to be there through spring, what are some essential clothes i should bring?

I live in Texas and will being to northern California for vacation and I want to be able to text my boyfriend but im afraid the only way to get signal to text him is by roaming(i have unlimited texting). I was wondering would i be charged.
if someone has a link i can go to get the information or if i should just call to find out just someone tell me for experience or whatever.

I would love a 3 day hike but in iowa i have found maybe a two dayer
if anyone knows a place in Northwest Iowa it will be greatly appreciated

We have differing ideas when it comes to vacations..My son wants to jet ski, swim, fish and my husband wants the four star experience.
