What are some fun affordable family vacation trips to take?

have you considered any of the national parks in the region, you can stay at a campground for chepa or at a hotel in a gateway city to the park
some parks that are in California or close to it are:
CHannel Islands, Joshua Tree, Grand Canyon, Kings canyon/Seqoia, Yosemite, Crater Lake, Coast Redwoods, Death Valley
