My husband and I bought a house with a redwood back deck, and with winter approaching, we were going to waterproof it, as we’d heard that was what you’re supposed to do…Then this weekend I read an article by a carpenter/contracter and he said that there’s no real need to do it, in particular the flat surfaces of the deck. He said that the flat surfaces in particular will simply wear unevenly and spottily, and we’ll have to do yearly reapplications. I don’t care if it stays new-looking, I know it won’t.

So, if you have a deck or install decks for a living, what’s your opinion? Thank you!!

We are going on a week long vacation on the first week of August, should we go to Aruba or California!?!

my husband and I are taking our daughter for a two week vacation for her sixteenth birthday, one week in las vegas then a week in california in april.

what would be some places to go preferably in california that a teen girl might like?
like any good spas? or what are some ideas where can take her in the LA, beverly hills area for a special time. wheres good shopping?
As of now we know that we’re spending a day at a beach, disneyland and for part of a day visiting UCLA

I am taking a road trip from Portland, OR to LA this June, and was hoping to see some Redwoods, or possibly even get to drive through one of them. However, I need to go the I-5 route to save time, and won’t be able to make a side trip over to the 101 route.

Are there any redwoods nearby I-5, maybe somewhere near the Redding area?

My mom, my brother, and I NEED a vacation. My father recently passed away and we have had so much on us we are about to break down. We live in central California, about 2 – 3 hours away from Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Atascadero, etc.. we have been there SO many times. I was born and raised here in this area and have hardly been anywhere else in California outside of what I just listed. I’ve been to a LOT of other states but never explored my own state. What are some nice calming vacation spots in California that are inexpensive? Do you think renting a hybrid car would be worth it to save money? Thanks!!
