I need good ideas for a vacation in California?

My dad and I are currently looking at vacation spots in California, we will probably be there for a good 1-2 weeks but were not
really sure where to go. Do you guys have any ideas where we could go?

I am 16, my sister is 13, and my father is 36. We are going to California in July or August and will be staying near San Francisco. Last year we went to Florida and did amusement parks and stuff like that. We don’t really want to do that again. What are some good places to go to in California near San Francisco??

I’m German and i live in Paris at the moment and go to London once in a while. It’s seriously expensive, it took me 7 months to find an apartment. It’s worse than New York. I know New York, but i don’t know about Los Angeles or San Diego, would it be expensive to go there for vacation for someone from Paris or London ? . I was going to go for summer vacation to California for 3-4 weeks, so is it realllyyy Expensive like people say, like you’d have to bring 10.000. Dollars or something ?

Can anyone offer me any tips on planning my vaca to see the redwoods this summer. What’s better – Eureka? Arcada? Anything else? Know any good hotels/inn’s? Should I think about renting a car or are taxi’s readily available and cheap?
