Should I get a redwood fretboard or Maple fretboard for an electric guitar?
I am going to get a fender american strat, either in black or 3 color sunburst, I see a lot of people with redwood, is it just for looks? Depending on which color I get, should I get a different fretboard?

the difference in tone is minimal in my opinion. maple is supposed to have a brighter tone. I feel that they play differently because the maple is so much more slick. I believe its mostly for looks. unless there is a very specific sound your after i don’t believe it will matter.
It doesn’t actually matter in my opinion. However, redwood does tend to get dry if you don’t take care of it.Typically, the type of fretboard you have is for looks. The maple might seem slicker on your fingers; it depends on what you like.
Just one thing; don’t get a guitar just because of it’s "fretboard color or type"
