Redwoods and termites?
will redwood trees deter termites from your home.?
if you have redwood in the back of your home and then your neighbor has one that sits in the front of your home. how would that then effect your home. the redwoods sit in a way that one is in the back but also is by the left side of the house. and the one in front also is by the right side of the house. Does this make a differents?

Redwood lumber is disease and insect resistant but is not deadly to termites. Your trees will not deter termites from eating other types of wood.
The funny thing is that termites can eat redwood too!!! I have seen termites first hand in milled redwood as well as black walnut and both of these trees have resins that are repellent to insects.
The thing you have to understand is that resins in trees dry up when the tree dies. The other thing you need to keep in mind is that only the outer third of the tree is actually alive. So in theory the termites could actually eat the inner portion of the tree while the outer is still growing.
Ultimately, having these trees in your yard provides no repellancy. The best protection for your home can be found at this site. http://www.dowagro.com/sentricon/us/index.htm
