Can you swim in crescent city ca in april?
I will be in crescent city California in the beginning of April. I would like to know if anyone was able to go in the ocean. What are the beaches like? Anyone spend rime hiking in the redwoods?

Northern California beaches are generally too cold for swimming, all year. There is a stretch of Southern California, between Los Angeles and San Diego, where they get a warm tropical current and swimming is more possible. But in Northern CA you have surfing (in a wetsuit) but not so much serious swimming.
The beaches go from sandy and nice (like Florida or anywhere) to rocky and picturesque. It’s nice to walk on the beach and watch the surf, or walk on the cliffs above the beach, or climb on the rocks. Some places you can see seals or sea lions sunning themselves on the rocks.
The redwoods are incredible! One of the best things about California. They are very tall and they have no branches for the first 100 feet or so. Above that the branches all sort of join together in a big canopy, so it’s really dark, like being in a big cathedral or something. They smell wonderful too. Humboldt Redwoods is a ways south of Crescent City, maybe 50-75 mi., but that is the biggest remaining redwood forest. But driving south on Hwy 101 you go through groves of redwoods and it suddenly gets dark, like going through a tunnel.

lol – If you’re a polar bear. It is cold all the time in the water. Do you realize how far north that is.

Sure you can swim, if you like really cold water, or have a wet suit.

Swim in the ocean? For about five seconds, maybe.
But if you’re up in that area, go to the town of Leggett, and see the drive-through redwood trees.
the ocean at crescent city california in april is cold. i don’t recommend swimming without a wet suit. the beaches are nice because there aren’t a lot of people out there. i love going to the beach in the winter and early spring because me and my dog usually have it all to ourselves
it doesn’t matter what time of year it is. hiking in the coastal redwoods is always worth it. it doesn’t take much either. park your car on the road just about anywhere and go for a walk. just make sure you can find your way back
more than once i have come back to the road and my car wasn’t there. luckily i usually found it under 30 minutes
