Where, in Northern California, is the best place to get married?
Chivacoa My future fiance and I do not want a big lavish wedding. We want something no larger than 50 people. We don’t want my folks spending a lot of money. Do the grooms parents have to pay for the honeymoon or can the bride and groom pay for it, or her parents??

Dude…just go to Vegas! It’s fun, it’s nice (some places are nicer than others) and everyone can pay for their own drinks and expenses like hotels and such. Your ceremony will be affordable so if her rents don’t offer, you should be able to handle it….it’s the perfect plan!

If its a financial burden to any one set of parents, anyone can pay for the wedding.

The chapel in Yosemite Valley is beautiful but you have to reserve very far in advance. There are several places along the coast as well as in the Napa Valley that arent expensive. There are no set rules on who pays for what anymore. If someone offers take them up on it but traditionally the bride’s parents pay for the wedding and the grooms for the reception.

There is a great town in NoCal called Rough and Ready….its small and quaint. Perfect place for a small wedding.
The grooms parents do not have to pay for the honeymoon. That used to be the "proper" way to do things but now things are totally different. Do what makes you happy!!!

If you like the idea of a outdoor wedding almost any of the vinyards in Napa are awesome. They can accomidate small or large depending on which one you choose. I’ve also given you a few web sites
As far as for the paying thing there is no set rule anymore unless you have a very strict culture. In the older days it was that the brides family covered the weddign and reception as a way of "saying" thanks for taking her and the the grooms family payed for the honeymoon to show what the bride "got". Today it is done in so so many ways as long as you both are happy that’s all that matters.
When I got married we already had most things we needed between the two of us and so we asked our friends and family to help wirth diffrent parts of the weddign instead of gifts.

There are no set rules anymore on who pays for what. If your parents are paying for the wedding, then it would be nice if his parents could help pay for something, IF they can afford it. Don’t spend more than you can truly afford! All I hear from brides is how much money they wasted and that they wish they’d saved it for their futures, house, honeymoon.
As for N California, what part? I was born WAY up north, and my sister was married in Santa Rose (there are really nice places in that area). Two of my close friends live near San Fran, too and could help. Be more specific so we can give ideas!

Nobody is required to pay for the honeymoon. If they do that is nice of them to do that for you. They have registries where you can sign up to get donations, like a gift registry.
I got married in South Lake Tahoe and I think this is the most beautiful place in the world but different people love different things so it’s really up to you. The facility I got marreid in has a choice of wedding spaces: Ballroom, chapel with the view of the lake, gazebo in front of the lake or straight on the beach if you wish. They also offer catering services and theit wedding cake was just amazing! My guests are still talking about the cake and wishing they could have more. You can have all the guests spending the time in the same hotel (ask for discounts when booking more rooms).
They include wedding coordinator in the price of your wedding so I think it’s a great deal. Especially, if you’re not from Tahoe, and they are very good!
