The police in Tenaha, Texas have apparently been shaking down people, often motorists who are persons of color, as a regular way of doing business. I had thought that such crimes were limited to some small jurisdictions such as Tenaha, but am hearing that the same thing goes on in large cities as well. I only know of it in certain counties in California (Alameda, Amador, Humboldt, Sacramento). How widespread a problem is it?

I am attending Humboldt in the fall and am number 104 on the waiting list for available dorms. Now, they say I could possibly get a dorm, but they’d tell me like a week before school starts. I believe they have around 1,600 dorms, some double, some single and some triple.
So, honestly, what are my chances? Should I look off campus or wait it out?

I am trying to decide which college to apply for early decision. Humboldt is on my top list, however i have heard good and bad things about it. I love nature, but a lot of people keep talking about it being a horrible school. I don’t even know if I have a chance to get it. I have a 3.8 GPA, and I am involved in my extracurricular activities.
