Next summer when my kids are 4 and 2 years old we want to take a family vacation. We do NOT want to go to Disneyland. Where can we go that is kid friendly that will amuse them? We prefer to drive, not fly.

We don’t have too much money to spare, but my husband-to-be has family in San Francisco who have said if we pay for the flights they will put us up in in their "Granny flat" for 3 weeks for our honeymoon.
By the time we get there, we will be legally married according the laws of Northern Ireland. Because of the timing, my passport will still have my maiden name on it (it will just take far too long to get it changed before we fly) but we will have our wedding certificate.
Obviously, as newlyweds, we’ll be spending a lot of time doing what newlyweds do, but according to the California Penal code, this is illegal. It comes under "carnal abuse of children".
Reading into it, the fact our age difference is only a year (I’m 17, he’s 18) means it is a "misdemeanor" – as opposed to a "felony" if the age difference was 3 years, nevertheless, it would make him a criminal.
Since we will be a legally married couple, albeit from another country, would there be an exception here – or do we need to find another place to go?
Would it be better to fly or rent a car and drive? Trying to plan a suprise vacation…
my husband wants to take leave sometime in the next two months, due to my pregnancy i am not able to fly (yes, the doc’s orders). i like sight seeing but he’s not too into that. he likes to fish. also my pregnancy is in the beggining of the third tri. so too much walking, well mainly stairs or hills at this point, is out of the question.
we’re in CA. i was thinking about the grad-canyon. i’ve already been too the redwoods and crater lake. and yellowstone.
Im going to Californina and I need to find out where to fly into and where to go. Any suggestions? P.S. I like road trips. I also like Roller coasters and thrill rides! Hope that helps.
We can either fly in Tuesday at 7:20pm or fly in on Wednesday at 10:20am. We are leaving at 4:45pm on Monday. Not sure what the itinerary is, but which would be better?
