My fiance and I are getting married August 28. We are looking to go on our honeymoon either a couple days after that, or we can depart later, up to two weeks after our wedding.

We are looking to go on vacation for 6 or 7 days. We like to snorkel, dive, hike, swim, etc. Nightlife is fine, but what we really want are fun recreational things to do. Also a decent hotel, like the Westin, Hyatt, etc. I looked on Expedia, etc. and we can find some nice places in Cancun for less than 0/person including flight and stay at a Hyatt. This sounds good to me. But the flight is 11 hours long from Sacramento, California to Cancun. I would like a shorter flight if possible. So maybe somewhere closer to California, but still in Mexico. Does anybody have a recommendation on which city to go to, where to stay, and somewhere that doesn’t take 10 or 11 hours to fly to from Northern California, and that is not too expensive.

Ok..so in the summer I am moving to Alaska. Then I am getting a Ferret(don’t worry I have been doing research on them for months : ) ) Now I live in California. Probably the summer of 09 I will come back to visit in California for like a month. Can my Ferret come? I know there illegal to own and purchase in California but what about visiting. A month or more is an awful long time to be away from a pet.
I’m worried whether they would let my ferret fly to California..

We will be vacationing in Northern California and Oregon. We plan to fly into Sacramento and drive to Crater Lake. I’d like to stay in one of those big ‘ol hotels – like The Overlook in the film The Shining. I’m hoping that there is something like this three hours or less north of Sacramento where we can spend our first and last night. So far a net search is pulling up nothing except corporate chains and small, low budget, privately owned accommodations. To elaborate: We plan to do a lot of hiking and camping. We have a lot of gear and I’m considering packing it into a crate and shipping it to the hotel so that it will arrive in advance. The corporate chain hotels usually can’t be bothered with this kind of thing. Privately owned hotels, particularly the more luxurious ones, will usually go a great deal further to please their clients. In addition, we’d like the ambiance of of one of the grand old hotels and considering that we will be spending quite a few nights in a tent we will be able to blow some cash on a pricey hotel and will appreciate the comfort at the end of our wilderness sojourn.

Let me explain.
About a yr ago, my Mom’s best friends son announced he is getting married (he’s 38). We were childhood friends, but by the time we reached high school, he had his friends, I had mine and we drifted a-part. Besides, his wedding is in Northern California (Mid April) and I live in Chicago, IL. My Mom and Step Dad are flying out there and extending their trip, after the wedding to drive down the coast and visit my sister and her family.

For the past year, my inlaws have had a family vacation planned for us in Disney World, Florida (Late March). Very expensive, as were going during Easter time.

So, about 2 wks ago I told my Mom that we can’t swing the airfare and hotel to fly to CA for this wedding and she flew off the handle. She said, if you can afford to go to Disney World, you can afford to come to CA for this wedding. I disagree with her. I’m an Adult. I haven’t seen this guy in over 12 yrs. Ok, he invites me to his wedding, so what…

A few close girlfriends and I are trying to go on a vacation to california probably around March or April. I’ve never been yet, but I’m so excited to finally get to go! They’ve flown into Long Beach Airport before– which is where we’ll probably fly into again. Does anyone have suggestions on what we should do during our vacation? Best beach? Hotel? Nightclub? Restaurant? (Oh, and what’s the weather like around then?) When I leave I want to feel like I’ve had the full out California experience.

My idea is to fly into northern California or souther Oregon, rent a car, (preferably a convertible) and just drive down the PCH with my wife. Any tips or suggestions on where to stop and where to stay or eat?

Next summer when my kids are 4 and 2 years old we want to take a family vacation. We do NOT want to go to Disneyland. Where can we go that is kid friendly that will amuse them? We prefer to drive, not fly.

We don’t have too much money to spare, but my husband-to-be has family in San Francisco who have said if we pay for the flights they will put us up in in their "Granny flat" for 3 weeks for our honeymoon.

By the time we get there, we will be legally married according the laws of Northern Ireland. Because of the timing, my passport will still have my maiden name on it (it will just take far too long to get it changed before we fly) but we will have our wedding certificate.

Obviously, as newlyweds, we’ll be spending a lot of time doing what newlyweds do, but according to the California Penal code, this is illegal. It comes under "carnal abuse of children".

Reading into it, the fact our age difference is only a year (I’m 17, he’s 18) means it is a "misdemeanor" – as opposed to a "felony" if the age difference was 3 years, nevertheless, it would make him a criminal.

Since we will be a legally married couple, albeit from another country, would there be an exception here – or do we need to find another place to go?
