backpacking redwoods?

I just moved to norCal and i am interesting in backpacking i was wondering how i go about finding places to take 4 or 5 day trips. I think i wanted to go to the redwoods first and but i can’t find any info on overnight backpacking. i have found alot on car camping but thats not what i want. thanks.

Difference between Burlington Campground and Jedediah Campground?

We often visit the Burlington Campground near Meyer’s Flat in Humboldt State Park. We are planning a trip to Jedediah State Redwood Campground.
How does it compare to Burlington?

I reserved camp number 27. For the weeks we are going, everything along the river is booked already Do you know anything about number 27? Is it big? We will have 8 people, 2 dogs, 1 car, 1 van, and a travel trailer. It’s a 36" drive through spot. I hope it’s nice. The kids like to set up about 4 huge tents (some to sleep in, some to play in). I know in Burlington there was enough room for all that. I just hope the actual sites are big, or even bigger then in Burlington. I can’t wait to go camping!!!

Grant was so helpful with tour advise on our bike trek in the Redwood National Park. I would come here again and look forward to more bike and hiking trips in the future. The cabins were so nice and we felt at home.

where should we go on our vacations next year?

I am having trouble deciding what we should do next year for our getaways. We live in Northern California. So far we are going to Monterrey for the weekend in May for our anniversary and camping in Oregon in August.

So the choices are:

Take a train ride up through oregon and washington visiting Portland and Seattle and arriving in Canada and spending the rest of the time in Vancouver. Then flying back home.

Flying to the east coast and visiting friends, we will be in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Is Sequoia National Park in California a good place to take young children on vacation?

I am planning a family vacation. I have a 2 and 5 year old. I remember the pictures of people driving through the forest looking at the trees. I am not sure how much hiking and walking will be required.

I would like an outdoor trip for the family. We’ve never been out camping and it is a shame.

If you have any other suggestions it would be appreciated. Keep in mind that the only seasoned camper in our group is my husband. I am not ready to carry 2 kids up a mountain.

California vacation tips- Disneyland with 4 mo old?

My parents are taking my husband, my baby(who will be just shy of four months), and me to Disneyland and some other CA attractions. I need tips on going with an extremely low budget(they are paying for it, but aren’t very well off, just determined to go!), and making life a little easier being there with a baby. We will be stopping in Las Vegas on the way and probably spending the night. It is about 19 hours in a car both directions. The biggest help I need is with bringing food to prevent eating out. However, any tips would be WONDERFUL!
The family joke is that Disneyland is our "Mecca", we have to go as often as we can. The reason my dad is so determined to go is because he wants to go with the whole family(my brother(16) and sister(15) are going as well) around the time each grandchild is born. We don’t do many family vacations besides camping, but Disneyland is a constant! So I’m not too worried about my baby not remembering this trip because we have always gone at least once every five years or so(once when my brother was only one month old!).
I’m also BFing. And it’s not like we are doing a daytrip to Disneyland. This is going to be like, a ten day vacation involving Disneyland, the beach, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and I don’t know what else yet.

Does anyone out there want to go to the Redwood Forest?

I want to go see the huge sequoia trees in California. I really want to go camping within the forest, & take a lot of photos, looking up. Then I want to paint paintings from them. Any ideas? Anyone done it before?

I plan on flying out to eureka, and going forth from there. I am planning on camping and need a mode of transport to one of the parks. I am on a budget so spending 0 on a car rental for the week is too much. Any suggestions on places to visit, camp, rent a scooter?

I live in oc a city like suburban area…im open for change but i dont want to feel like im on a permanent camping trip………. It is beautiful there that is what draws me … but I dont want to feel really secluded..im not hippy and i don’t smoke weed..but the college has my major of internet engineer..
