California Governor Proposes Closure of 220 State Parks to Make up for Budget Shortfall

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s proposal to close over 200 state parks to public meet predictable criticism.

The Governor said that the state can no longer afford to sustain the parks after noting a budget defect of nearly billion. He is hoping that the closure of the parks would save the state millions of dollar in service costs over the next twelve months. Predictably the public are not taking to this suggestion easily.

This proposal would affect nearly 80 percent of California’s state parks and restrict access to nearly 30 percent of California’s coastlines.

The proposal would affect parks all down the state from the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Big Sur beaches down south. Preventing access to giant redwoods and such features as Lake Tahoe.

At least 2,000 jobs would be threatened, affecting park rangers, biologists and lifeguards, who would be laid off due to the Governor’s plans.

But the National Park Service are threatening to seize some locations if Schwarzenegger goes through with the legislation.

Of the areas that the Service have threatened to siege are San Francisco’s Angel Island,  which is where Chinese immigrants were barracked, Mount Diablo, Point Sur historical park in Big Sur and three beaches Ford Ort Dunes near Monterrey.

In his warning letter National Park Service director Jonathan Jarvis warns that the state could lose any future park funding.

Speaking on Schwarzenegger’s behalf a representative remarked: “We’re reviewing the letter and state parks director Ruth Coleman is in the process of talking with the National Park Service and Jon Jarvis about these very issues.
“They are discussing a variety of outcomes and solutions depending on what final budget package is passed by the Legislature.”

So far the Governor has rejected the democrats proposal for a annual fee for vehicle registration in order to help maintain the parks.

A spokesman for the National Parks Service said that another option is to cut down the park hours rather than cut them off completely. “We want to work with them, and see what they have to offer” he said “because we don’t want to close the parks and I’m sure they don’t want to either”.

Conservationists have been raising concerns about the implications of leaving the parks untended. They suggest it would costs as much to keep people out of the parks, and in future repairs, as it would to keep them open. They also point out that the parks are a great source of revenue for the state and closing them down may impinge on tourist revenue.

With the threat of the closure of Lake Tahoe to the public many people with property being let as Lake Tahoe vacation rentals are also upset by the proposition along with a large number of businesses and hotels relying on tourist money.

A representative of The National Parks Service had this to say, “Each visitor to a state park is worth per visit. The parks have generated millions throughout California. It’s almost as if they are shooting themselves in the foot.”

Grant was so helpful with tour advise on our bike trek in the Redwood National Park. I would come here again and look forward to more bike and hiking trips in the future. The cabins were so nice and we felt at home.

Petaluma is a place where dramatic coasts, redwoods, and wineries all come together. As one of the oldest cities in California, this city in the Sonoma County has a charm and is a perfect place for a getaway. This city with 13.9 square miles is home to proud 54,548 residents. The name Petaluma came from the name of the Coast Mwok village located at the east of the Petaluma River.

Petaluma once became known for its chicken processing and grain milling thus they were called the Egg Capital of the World. However, this did not continue and its nickname was replaced and became Telecom Valley. From the change in the nickname, it is evident that the industries that are now dominating the city are the telecom companies. In fact, recently, the city has been noted again because of the creation of Twit.tv that took place in one of the cottages in this city. Despite this, there are still a number of farms that produce dairy products, vegetables, berries and olive groves. The city makes sure that they maintain and protect their agriculture  The city has also become popular as shooting sites for various movies because of the existence of historic iron-front building, Eastlake houses and old Victorian, Queen Anne homes that gives off a different atmosphere; thus the progress of its commercial district.

Apart from the old houses and chicken processing, being in the Wine County, Petaluma is a perfect place to explore wineries. Having about a hundred of them, one can expect a different and unique experience when exploring these places. Also, parts of the attractions in this city are the art and antique galleries and the art centers. There are even festivals and shows displaying the local artworks. The recreational activities are also a must-try. From the typical hiking, bicycling, fishing and sports like golf and tennis, the tourists and residents can enjoy equestrian outings, auto racing and even aerial adventure. One may also enjoy boating that is surely out of the ordinary since it is included in the Top Ten Bay Area Leisure Boating Destinations in the country. In addition to this, one can expect a different shopping experience. From the typical shops in large-scale malls, one can enjoy strolling down the street packed with antique shops, book shops and specialty stores.

Thus, one cannot say that this is just another city in the Wine County as it proves to be much more than that.

California State is the most popular state in the United State of America. This come the third position in USA as populations and largest area. This is the attractive destinations where many people visit to their beautiful places in it. Some of attractiveness is Disneyland, Hollywood and beaches at southern California. And Golden Gate Bridge, hills, parks, attractive valleys and ice covered area at northern area of California. At these places many activities are take places like skating, hiking, camping and lots of more. In California most attractive cities like San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Anaheim and Ontario these are cities to visit. In these above cities have their own attractions with adventure and activities.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles is bigger city in United State of California. This county contains many attractions like mountains, valleys, forest and beautiful ocean. This one is the second largest in populations and many cultures and over hundred language are appear their. Los Angeles International, Long Beach Airport, Bob Hope (Burbank) Airport and Orange County/John Wayne Airport are airport to visit in it. Other sources are buses, trains are used to visit form nearer Los Angeles city. In the city massive sprawl and dysfunctional public transportation are provide to visit this in the city from attractive places.

The larger tourist attractions are Hollywood Boulevard, The Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood/Highland and The Wax Museum.

Mulholland Drive is famous driving put more adventure in the trip. Museums The Getty Center, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, Page Museum at La Brea Discoveries and Japanese American National Museum. Parks Griffith Park, Exposition Park and Six Flags Magic Mountain to get entertainment of see wildlife, nature and many more.

Cemetery Screenings and Esotouric Bus Adventures are also so entertaining Dodger Stadium, Staples Center and Home Depot Center are the sports places.

In Los Angeles there are many shopping malls and other attractions to get enjoyment of shopping there. And lodging facilities are hotels and inn at effective rates to suite your pocket. Restaurants that win you heart taste delicious foods of different kinds. Nightlife is so glamorous that can never easily for get it. Los Angeles destinations make journey so excited.

Anaheim

Anaheim city name of fame and attractiveness is Orange County in United State of California. Disneyland and National Hockey League, Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles are the fame of Anaheim City.  John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana are near one airport in the Anaheim city. Amtrak and Metrolink , Disneyland on Metro bus are other convenient to visit this city. Orange County Transit Authority that provide to visit in downtown and get the attractions of the different places.

Some of the attractions of city are Disneyland, California Adventure and Crystal Cathedral. Disneyland is the main attractions of the city. California adventure is newly open in Disneyland and increase attractions of the city.

Dave & Busters and AMC Theaters are places to get entertainment. Near to that shop, restaurants are available there for shopping entertainment. Angel Stadium where get the sport facilities are available there. Anaheim Ducks play at Honda Center are get the adventure of the ice skating and many more. And other place near to Disneyland is The Garden Walk and contains numbers of shops and eating places there. La Brea Bakery Café, Shabu Shabu and Outback Steakhouse also famous places near to Disneyland eating places.

There are numbers of the lodging places like Alpine Inn, Americas Best Value Inn & Suites, and Anaheim Courtyard by Marriott, Comfort Inn & Suites Anaheim, Hotel Pepper Tree and other hotels. They provide the discounted lodging facilities with more attractions. The nightlife of city is so interesting with full of charming and adventure which make it attractions of the city. Really Anaheim city why not take the visit to this city.

Ontario

Ontario City which is one of attractive and adventurous places and mostly visitors visit this one in every year. This beautiful county is in the San Bernardino County in United State of California. LA/Ontario International Airport is the famous and near airport. In this many airlines like Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines and Aeromexico are visit there. Other ways to visit it are cars, buses and other public transportation resources available there. Train also the best and cheap and light transportation medium to visit.

In city many car rental exist there and provide to visit in different attractive places in Ontario. From airport large numbers of car rentals available there.

Museum of History and Art places where large collections of art and other attractive thing. People to enjoyment of the old thing and get many histories about the things.

Ontario Mills and Chino Town Square are the recreational places to get the adventure and put the journey in between the attractions.

Ontario Mills Mall this is one of biggest shopping malls. And single-story malls at the West Coast is abundant are also generate the shopping adventure.

There are many places to for staying there like Best Western Country Inn, Best Western Innsuites Hotel & Suites Ontario, California Inn, Holiday Inn Ontario ,Holiday Inn Express Rancho Cucamonga  and many more at very effective rates of hotels and inns available there.

Many restaurants and nightclub are also there for entertaining. And provide the adventurous environment to lose in the life enjoyment. Ontario City is city to make more fun and put into the glamour world. Destinations really make your trip so interesting with more adventure.
